 | What is sirid
Sirid is a project management tool which is designed to ease the
job of all people involved in a (software) project. The most important
features of Sirid are task and bug management, but it also has other
useful features, such as specification management and support for
recording feature requests.
Common use case for Sirid is as follows:
Your company decides to make a (software) project. First you write
some sort of basic specification for the project. You can do this
either using the HTML editor in Sirid or using some other text editor,
such as Word.
Once you're done writing the specification (and if you wrote it using
other text editor than that in Sirid having added the document to
Sirid as attachment), you will split the project into smaller pieces,
tasks. The scale of a task depends on the methods used in your company
but usually one task should take something between 2 and 8 hours. While
splitting the project into parts you add each task into Sirid and
specify appropriate responsible persons for the task. Once you have
added all tasks you can go to the Statistics page
to see how many hours the project is estimated to take overall.
Now the foundation for the project has been established: Project
specifications are there where everyone can see them and everyone
knows what they need to do by going to My tasks
page. The implementation phase can start.
Because nobody can do their tasks flawlessly and because all the
specifications are never precise, the project will initially contain
some errors (bugs). With Sirid, the person who notices the error, can
easily record it and send a notification to the person(s) whos
responsibility it is to fix the error. This can be done via the Report a bug
page. Once the bug has been reported it will appear in the My bugs list of
the responsible person(s) till it gets fixed.
